KET+ Treatment

KET+ Treatment

KET+ Serving San Antonio, Texas

In 2016 Andala® began treating patients suffering from depression with ketamine. Our medical team was impressed by the rapid and robust anti-depressant effects patients experienced from a ketamine infusion. But for many patients, ketamine therapy came with unwanted side effects, including nausea and anxiety. We became concerned that these side effects could discourage new and existing patients from seeking or continuing ketamine treatment and set out to find a solution.

To address the nausea and anxiety arising from ketamine treatment, the clinical team at Andala, including Dr. Bryan Clifton and Dr. Mark Moran, developed KET+, a patent-protected combination of ketamine with anti-nausea and anti-anxiety medications. KET+ has been administered more than 10,000 times over the past 8 years, and the preliminary data we have gathered thus far suggests that it may significantly reduce nausea and anxiety associated with ketamine treatment. If you are considering ketamine treatment for the first time or have tried ketamine in the past and experienced nausea and/or anxiety, contact us at 1-210-783-0582 for more information on KET+.

What is KET+

KET+ is a patented combination therapy which includes ketamine in addition to a low dose of an anti-anxiety medication (benzodiazepine) and an anti-nausea medication (ondansetron). KET+ was developed to address the nausea and anxiety that can sometimes arise during a ketamine treatment. KET+ is intended to prevent these side effects in patients prone to ketamine-related nausea and anxiety.

A Note from Dr. Clifton

During my time at the Shriners Hospital for Children in the burn center, I saw firsthand the powerful effect of ketamine. As I transitioned into the mental health and pain management space, I drew back on my experience. I noticed that ketamine would sometimes cause unwanted negative side effects. The use of standard ketamine requires reaction-based care, meaning that if side effects occur such as nausea, we must then address those in real time during the infusion. In 2018, after real-world evidence was gathered on preventing those side effects at the beginning of the infusion, rather than when they emerge, we filed a patent for the use of KET+ to treat depression. By creating and using our proprietary KET+ formulation, we have been able to address the unwanted side effects of ketamine therapy for many of our patients. 1
